Baptist Health Care Expands Commitment to Care in the Pensacola Area

To better serve the patients of the northwest Florida and south Alabama community, Baptist Health Care announces its planned purchase of West Florida Hospital. Once this acquisition is complete, Baptist Health Care will redefine health care excellence by expanding our comprehensive care for each and every resident of the communities we serve.

With this acquisition, the for-profit HCA facility that is currently managed out of Nashville, TN, will become a not-for-profit, locally-owned, locally-managed, community asset.

The current West Florida Hospital, on Davis Highway, will become home to the new Baptist Hospital offering patients a newly renovated modern facility including:

  • New Baptist Cancer Center in affiliation with the Moffitt Cancer Institute
  • Expanded Emergency Department
  • Enhanced Baptist Heart & Vascular Center of Excellence
  • Expanded Baptist Neurosciences Center, Orthopaedics and comprehensive Baptist Rehab Hospital for neurologic and orthopaedic conditions
  • Bariatric Center of Excellence
  • Women’s Center with labor and delivery services
  • Relocated helipad for Baptist Life Flight
  • New medical office buildings for physician offices to be built at the current West Florida Hospital site and/or at Baptist Medical Park – Nine Mile Road
  • New parking garage

With Baptist Health Care and West Florida Hospital becoming one, we are combining and bringing together the best technology, services and expertise for superior quality health care for patients and families.

Baptist Medical Park Nine Mile

A vital member of the University Parkway Campus, Baptist Medical Park Nine Mile will continue to offer outpatient surgery, diagnostic imaging, laboratory, cardiology, women’s services, urgent walk-in-care, occupational health, physical rehabilitation services as well as specialty physician offices for convenient, quality care.

The current Baptist Hospital becomes the new Baptist Medical Park Downtown, a vital part of Baptist’s Main Campus that will continue to be the home of more than 1,000 employees plus:

  • Walk-in urgent care center to provide services for patients who require non-emergent medical care
  • Physician offices in the three Baptist Towers
  • Diagnostic imaging services including mammography, CT scan, MRI, ultrasound and digital X-ray
  • Laboratory services
  • Outpatient physical rehabilitation
  • Wound care and hyperbaric medicine
  • Baptist Health Care corporate offices
  • Lakeview Center
  • Combined inpatient psychiatric services at the current Baptist Behavioral Medicine Hospital
  • In addition, the full service outpatient campus will provide food services, environmental services, security and plant operations
 

Growth Across the RegionBaptist Health Care Access Map

The addition of West Florida Hospital Primary Care Practices (nine neighborhood medical centers) to Baptist Health Care affiliated and employed physicians will expand Baptist Health Care primary care locations throughout the community, creating the largest and most convenient primary care network in the region. This expansion provides opportunities for new and enhanced health care services, that are currently being explored based on the needs of our patients and the community.
